That is a step up for Nintendo, perhaps we can finally expect cross-console gaming. I don't see why they allow it for the handlhelds, but never their consoles.

I think the pretty blue bar is special. The console actually reminds me of the slim PS2. Nintendo said that users would be able to download classic games, but I wonder...for free? It should be seeing has how someone probably still has the original cartridge and just wants to play it on the new system. I don't see why Nintendo doesn't make some sort of cartridge reader that you can attach to a system and then play some old games.

Do you mean to say that I might be able to get back some of the old games that I lost when I sold my n64? lol ... I'd like to play banjo kazoie one more time... first game I ever owned. (even though its nintendo may no longer own the license or whatever) Btw, does anyone remember the game Jet Force Gemini by rare? I'd like to get that game back too. o.o (this post brought back memories XD)

I'm still wondering what the cost of downloading the games will be. Has anything been hinted to it?

I still have it, love it.....*goes to play it*
Iwata also talked a bit more about the Revolution's capability to download and play games from Nintendo's previous consoles, called the Virtual Console system. First off, he shot down speculation that all first-party Nintendo games will be downloadable for free. "There's rumors floating on the Internet that the Virtual Console will be available for play for free, but we have no plans to distribute (the games) without charge," he said.
"We believe that there's a number of ways that we can use the system, such as to offer a bonus download with the purchase of a new game, or allow some games to be downloaded during a limited time during a campaign period." Iwata also repeated Nintendo's stated desire to have third-party developers get in on the game-download action.
So I guess it's not completely decided yet.

:'(I'm not really liking it. As I said it's really not fair to the people that still own the cartridge. I'm still wondering where the Revolution is too. The whole downloading games on a console thing was brought up by "The Phantom" or whatever it was called a few years ago.

The Revolution is, no doubt, going to be the best system next generation.

alchemy, since you're still a big NES gamer, what do you think of perhaps having to pay to download classic games? (Not saying you will or anyone will have to, but I mean your point of view of general people who still own NES games, but perhaps would want to play them on the Revolution with a charge attached).

I'd pay, and if it does cost money, I'll download all the NES titles. Maybe all the SNES titles. I love the NES that much.
