Just a suggestion ... I think it would be cool if there was a debate board going on. Just a place where people could "maturely" discuss issues such as religion, society and ... stuff ... I like debates ...

i dont think there should be debates, its wrong on soo many levels...and def not on those topics, use your brain, gosh (if you notice this is how a debate is, this whole post was an ironic one, the words disagree but the meaning is all for it, yep andy is an expert irony dealer outer)

Hahaha smooth one Andy. Well this tis a good idea, but I'm split because I fear people will take it too seriously . However, I will allow it if more people agree. If you want Sabam, since it is your idea, I'll make you a mod of the board if it's created.

I think it's a pretty good idea, no da. But, as you said, people may take it too seriously. So perhaps everyone should watch what they say and be a bit considerate towards other peoples' feelings?

So perhaps everyone should watch what they say and be a bit considerate towards other peoples' feelings? imo i think that if its a really... emotional moving topic, like religion for instance, and bashing starts going on, there wont be a way to necessarily control people, because a topic like that is really sensitive. If we have debate boards, maybe we should put limitations on what topics can and can't be presented. As i stated above, there are going to be those ones that people are really passionate about, and it could get to the point where not only are they arguing they're bashing.

True, that's usually how the human mind works, but I think that if another member has a problem with what's being said in the board, instead of starting something on the forum, they should take it up in an IM chat or something of the sort, no da.
After all a forum is made for debating, ne?

No, nothing should be taken up (notice how this is turning into a huge debate). Anything brought up should stay on the debate board. Taking it up out of the debate is completely violating the 'not on a personal level' thing and if debatable topics are excluded there is nothing to debate except things like 'do boots go with shorts'? If there is one more 'yes', I will allow the board since it seems to be 3/1 (excluding me). I will promise however that if anyone takes up a debate topic or disrespects someone's opinion outside of a debate, they will be banned from the forum completely.

I think if everyone handles it in a mature, decent way, there should be no problems.
I don't know the ages of all the members here but a big part of growing up is acknowledging that not everyone shares your opinions but the key is still being able to defend your's in an intelligent manner.
I mean, take this as an example: I go to a Catholic schools and we've still got people who don't believe in God. And we debate the two sides of the story all the time without offending anyone on either teams.

I say go ahead and put up a debate board and if things get too bad simply take em down.
