I REALLY doubt an explanation for the debate is necessary.
I'm somewhat a feminist so of course I'm all for the idea especially with Hillary Clinton at the top of my list. I've heard people say that if we did have a female president other countries would laugh at us, but uh...aren't they already with Bush? Other countries such as China, Ireland, East Germany have had female presidents so what's really the problem? If they can get the job done well, why shouldn't there be?

I think it'd be cool. I don't think other countries would laugh at us.. maybe guys in America, but not other countries. If I was a president of another country, I might actually be scared. ; I watch to much Commander In Chief. Damnit, Geena Davis. >:0

No one should laugh about equality, and someone's laughing shouldn't matter a crap in this short of thing anyway. It's just that people are not used to female leadership. Women might be considered as ones not to be able to do such things. We are supposed to be home nursing the kids or something. What I've heard is that this kind of reasoning is popular among the middle aged men, who now have the power. And so women might have more trouble in applying for promotion if there is a man applying for the same work. Usually they favor men, with no particular reason. This have been researched. The gap is seen in earnings as well. There is still chauvinism, though some people might deny it's existence. I hope the new generation wouldn't give a damn about the gender... Female presidents roxor!

There should be a female president just to change the tides and show that men are no more capable of running the country than a woman and vise versa.

I'd love a female president, and yes, I really mean that. I mentioned this earlier and this guy goes "Ah he says that so he can get with the ladies." Well crap on him. I like Hillary and she'd make this country loads better.

I never could understand how men could do things better than women... I mean, if she CAN then why the hell not? It's not like her bieing a woman is going to change her decision making abilitys... then my sexist-ass teacher brought up the fact that it may have to do with the bible that there weren't any female presidents yet, "see? eve took the apple she wasnt supposed to!" (im not gonna rant about the bible but you get what i mean) and i really dont like it when people say "i think there should be an Afro-American president soon, thats what this country needs. It doesnt matter who you are! So what if you are pink with polka-dots and you walk backwards?! If you truely could sucsessfully run a country then you can be a president! PERIOD!!!

I can't see anything wrong with a female president. I don't care about the gender at all so long as they can lead our country in the right direction. I don't think that our generation particularly cares about the gender either; older generations are the ones that it bothers the most. They're too set in their ways and, of voters, they're the most numerous. They also have a lot of persuasive power. Because of that fact, any female trying to become president will come up against a lot of opposition and go through hell to win the majority of the votes. But it is possible. The only thing I'm against would be picking her just because she's female; if someone would vote for her just to prove that a female can be a good president. I would like someone to prove it, but only if that candidate can back up their claims. I'd hate to usher another moron into office.

Old people and their stubborn-ness... I say that living with my gramma, she'd like a female president but I think she's pushing for Borak Obama.

A female president is something that would be decent, a change of pace I'd say. However, I doubt it would happen. I think a lot of people would vote against a female president, looking at it like "women are too emotional". Just saying, it's a possibility.. especially since America isn't nearly as free or equal as it seems. There's still prejudice..
