Cartoon Network today announced several major acquisitions for their venerable Toonami action-animation block. Fan-favorite "Naruto" will join the block in the third quarter of 2005, while "One Piece" will move to Toonami in May. Toonami original IGPX will expand into a full series from Production IG. "The Batman" will see a Toonami airing beginning April 2, ShoPro acquisition "Zatch Bell" will start in March, and nosehair-fighting anime "Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo" is coming in the fourth quarter. The show will be aimed at young viwers and their parents. Which most likely means we will be seeing the same highly criticized translations that appear in the USA manga, I guess it will be just like American One Piece!-source narutofan.com
Okay the American Naruto part is awesome because if Toonami shows the openings and ending themes, Viva Rock tis gonna be played later on in the series ^.^. Bad news is they'll probably screw up alot of things with censorship (the anime already has far less gore than the manga, but there's still a lot of swearing). I can't wait to hear the voice acting, simply because a few months ago, Curt did an impression of what he thinks one of the characters is gonna sound like in english and he probably got it right.
And has anyone heard of this Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo anime?

They'd better not screw up the voices, though. It would seriously suck if they do. ^.^ I can't wait til Itachi-sama is introduced!
And no, I haven't heard of that Bobo. whatever series. ;;>.> Weird name, though.

And has anyone heard of this Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo anime? Yeah, it's pretty screwed up. People are going bald because of this army or something and to stop them the hero uses this fighting style with his nose hair. There are actually a lot of fans that are angry about Naruto just being dubbed I'd be afraid to learn what they think about CN getting their hands on it.

If they stick Naruto with a rap opening like they did One Piece I see many pissed off fans. Or if they recycle the english opening for DBZ : Ninja! Ninja! Rock the Ninja! Na-ru-to! For the dubbings maybe we'll get lucky and Lex Lang or Chris Patton'll be in there.

About the dubbing, you know since its toonami they're gonna screw it all up.

About the dubbing, you know since its toonami they're gonna screw it all up. Toonami has absolutely nothing to do with the dubbing since it isn't a production company. I believe Funimation will handle it since that's what Naruto seems to be most associated with. Funimation's done Dragonball, Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Full Metal Alchemist, and more.

Poor Funimation didn't have the money in time . Either way, I'm pretty content with the two companies. I can't really imagine ADV getting their hands on the series, because they've never actually handled one as long as it. I can however imagine Naruto having the same voice as Hamtaro.

I was implying that because Toonami is usually a network that's made for younger and older audiences they have to take into consideration the younger, so therefore they're gonna have all the 'bad' stuff filtered out.

I highly doubt that. It's not like Naruto goes around saying 'F#%$ing Sasuke!' or Sasuke calls Sakura "annoying [explicit]" every episode or anything like Hellsing. It will probably be like Yuu Yuu Hakusho with things like 'I'll kick your ass' as it should be.

Yeah most of the swearing isn't too too bad. Damn and ass (mainly fatass) are used alot, but all the other words are pretty much kept to a minimum. Though later on in the series, there's a chick named Tayuya who says 'sh*thead' with almost every breath she takes (she's so awesome ) When they edit that, her character's gonna be ruined "...or Sasuke calls Sakura "annoying [explicit]" every episode" I'd love to hear that every episode. Pretty much the only sexual content in the series is from Naruto's Sexy no Jutsu and Harem no Jutsu

Kusotare isn't really hard to change into English and get the same effect instead of using sh#$head. Tell me Shel, since you've seen the fansubbed ep with Tayuya, does she actually say kusotare or does she use something else? If she uses something else, mind trying to sound it out, because the actual translation may not be sh#$head, so you don't have to be disappointed.

Not sure because I don't have the epis anymore. I should be able to tell when I download the next fansub.

After watching Naruto Epi 123, do you think Toonami will cut out the part where Rock Lee gets drunk? I hope not because his Drunken Fist style is one of the best parts in the series. Maybe they'll do something completely lame, like have him get drunk off of soda.

I don't know. Didn't some of the DBZ characters get drunk? I know they did show booze, but Goku turned them down and in Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Yusuke's mum basically started out as a boozer and they showed it, so the chances are really 50-50.
