TOKYO — A record 14,410 cases of domestic violence were reported to police forces across Japan last year, up 14.7% from the previous year, the National Police Agency said Thursday.
The police reported 1,094 criminal cases stemming from violence by abusive spouses, of which 75 were cases of murder or attempted murder, the NPA said. Courts issued 1,774 restraining orders in domestic violence cases last year, up 18.3% from the previous year
After the last headline, I wonder how many involve women as the abuser.
