Man stabs ex-classmate to death over practical jokes
TOKOROZAWA, Saitama -- A 23-year-old man who brutally stabbed a university student to death after becoming infuriated at his jokes was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of murder, police said.
The man, Hironori Sasajima, was arrested on suspicion of murdering 23-year-old university student Yo Fujiki. He has reportedly admitted responsibility for the murder.
Investigators said Sasajima killed Fujiki by stabbing him about a dozen times in the chest in Fujiki's eighth-floor apartment in Tokorozawa at about 5:30 a.m. on March 3. Fujiki was found dead in the passageway of the seventh floor of the apartment block, his body smeared with blood. His upper body was unclothed.
Sasajima and Fujiki were classmates from their high school days. From April last year they had run a detective agency based at Fujiki's home. Sasajima reportedly left Fujiki's apartment at about 3 a.m. on March 3, but he returned at about 5 a.m. after being called back by Fujiki, police said.
When Sasajima arrived, Fujiki reportedly began harassing Fujiki by fooling around with a knife, which Sasajima said infuriated him.
"He pulled out a knife and was joking around, so I got mad and stabbed him," police quoted him as saying.
Practical joke...suuuuuuuuure.
