54% of adults turn blind eye to juvenile delinquency: report
TOKYO — A government white paper on juvenile delinquency released Saturday showed 54% of adults surveyed turning a blind eye to juvenile delinquency. Only 11.5% said they speak to juveniles between 14 and 19 years of age when they see them engaged in acts such as smoking.
The survey, conducted in January, covered 3,000 people above age 20. About 14.2 percent said they would report juvenile delinquency to the police. As for the reason for turning a blind eye to juvenile delinquency, 78.8% said they fear the juveniles might use violence against them, and 14.3% said they think the juveniles will not listen.
Wow,...teens are feared in Japan? We should send over Chazilla.
