Four teenagers die of carbon monoxide poisoning in Kagoshima cave
KAGOSHIMA — Four male junior high school students died of carbon monoxide poisoning from a bonfire they made in a cave Saturday afternoon in the city of Kagoshima, police said. Mizuki Nakano, Kazuki Moi, Satoshi Jitozono and Koshiro Kawagoe — all 13-year-old students at Takeoka Junior High School and members of its tennis club — were found lying in the cave around 4:25 p.m.
Two of the teens were found still alive lying near the entrance, while the other two were found dead in the back of the cave, the police said. Rescue officers brought them to hospital after receiving a call for an ambulance from a local resident. (Kyodo News)
