If you like Asian music more than American music, or vice versa, why?
I like Japanese music more than American because although with stronger social limitations, songs seem to be more of a reflection of the artists than like American music which seems to be more of a reflection of the media and popculture.

I'm weird, but I like it because it's happier

japanese music confuses me sometimes, because it doesn't sound like the emotion it's conveying. I do like japanese music more because i like how ... emotional and relating the lyrics are.
I don't have respect for american artists, so i dont listen to them. *shrugs*

Woh, I could talk about this all day.
American Bands vs. Japanese Bands... no contest. Japan wins by a landslide with me for a number of reasons. First reason I'm sick of American PUNK/EMO culture which has taken over. All of the music is the SAME!
All of the new bands sound the SAME, the songs are the SAME the dress is the SAME. I can't tell the difference between one or the other.
Also, you can get the Visual look without being worried about whether or not that certain musician worships satan.
There's a wider variety of sounds, and Genres to make everyone happy and the image of each musician in particular is different.
I love rock but I also like the 'pop' sound. Maybe I'm just out of touch with US music but are there ANY boy bands left? (Outside of Disney) What about the girls? Any girls that haven't turned themselves over to the world of s#*t.
Anything past Americans early 90's music is boring for me. Japanese music is always offering me something different. I 'feel' more of the music and that's what real music is. Real music makes you feel something. But I guess it's different for everyone.

I agree with everything you've said, odrah, but I'm a bit busy right now to comment on all of it. About the first part, that's why I really think American music is just a reflection of popculture. Everything in the American music world seems to be just a trend. Most of it really does seem to be the same as the other (except for The Killers who I'm seriously loving since they're doing something unlike anything else really out right now). everything's so unoriginal.

Eh.. although I like American rock, and occasionally R&B and pop... I must say I like Japanese better. The bands and artists seem to have more energy, and the lyrics are really emotional or have a message to give away. And well, when you listen to guys like Gackt and Hyde... how could you not like how sexy their voices are? ;D

Ha, Sexy voices are a plus for sure. But yes, that's a good way to have put it Linalin, American music is just trend it's like one big popularity contest and that in itself ticks me off because I already had to put up with all of that through school. I'm a little tired of it.
