Rumi-chan and I discussed this briefly yesterday, so I've decided to create this thread to get everyone's input.
Now, I've been wanting a mod-chip for awhile now. That way I can play the Kenshin games and some games I'm interested in before they're released here. Problem is since mod-chips aren't generally made by the console manufacturer I could be setting my PS2 up for a crash. You read quite a few horror stories (if you actual bother to read about mods) about how a mod-chip locked up a system or just didn't work and things like that. It would really really suck if that happened, because your warranty would be no good since mod-chips are illegal. There are also stories of 'how awesome this chip is' and things like that, but because some chip companies are privately owned and operated, who's to say that the person who claimed the chip was great wasn't trying to lead you into a trap? There are so many manufacturers of mod-chips that it's hard to tell the good ones from the scams. I personally won't buy a mod-chip unless someone I know has a one, that way I can see firsthand if it's good or not.
What do you guys think?

Wth, andy?
Well, if you're willing to take the risk of screwing up your game system, I'd say go for it.

Hahahaha, Andy. A mod chip is an illlegal device you attach/install into your game system that will modify it. Usually, it is done so you can play overseas games, but I've read about ones that will let you play like a PS2 game on Xbox.
