Friday, February 4, 2005 at 04:53 JST BEIJING — China opposes Japan's plans to beef up its military presence around its southern remote islands, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said Thursday.
Japan should not act on its own to settle territorial disputes regarding the Senkaku Islands, spokesman Kong Quan said regarding Japan's stated plans to raise troop levels to shore up the defense of southwestern remote islands including the disputed Senkaku Islands. (Kyodo News)
So says the people who keep going into Japanese waters unauthorized and claiming the islands. This is long overdue and very reasonable. Funny thing is that China keeps forgetting that Japan gives funds to the Chinese military! Japan has every right to strengthen their defense.
